IMADR( International Movement Against All Forms of Discrimination and Racism)
Leenie “"Where we goin', George?"
The little man jerked down the brim of his hat and scowled over at Lennie. "So you forgot that awready, did you? I gotta tell you again, do I? Jesus Christ, you're a crazy bastard! "I forgot," Lennie said softly.” (Steinbeck 16) - IMADR helps raise awareness against the discrimination that Lennie faced and helps make this discrimination became illegal, this would make the characters acknowledge and be more kind to lenny knowing that he is simple.
Crooks “I was born right here in Southern California. My old man had a chicken ranch, ‘about ten acres. The white kids come to play at our place, an’ sometimes I went to play with them, and some of them was pretty nice. My ‘ol man didn’t like that. I never knew till long later why he didn’t like that. But I know now." He hesitated, and when he spoke again his voice was softer. "There wasn’t another colored family for miles around. And now there ain’t a colored man on this ranch an’ there’s jus’ one family in Soledad." (Steinbeck 70)- IMADR helps to stop the segregation and racism that crooks faced because he is black.
Curley’s wife "Don't you even take a look at that bitch. I don't care what she says and what she does. I seen 'em poison before, but I never seen no piece of jailbait worse than her" (Steinbeck 54) - One of IMADR’s core values is to promote cooperation and solidarity among discriminated people in ways that rise above regional, national and gender differences.
Candy ”Nobody’d listen to you an’ you know it. Nobody’d listen to you. Candy subsided, No… he agreed. Nobody’d listen to us” (Steinbeck 81)- IMADR helps to promote the capacity of discriminated groups to raise their voices and represent themselves in activities to combat discrimination. Candy’s opinion is usually not heard because he is old IMADR can help give him a voice.
Farmhands(George) ”If you had two bits in the worl’, why you’d be gettin’ two shots of corn with it and suckin’ the bottom of the glass”(Steinbeck 79) - The workhands on the farm are discriminated, and have expectations to go no where in life because of their social status. IMADR helps to promote equality and give everyone a fair chance.Helping the farmhands to believe they can better their self in life.
